Disabling the browser pop-up blocker to establish initial connection with Google Calendar

This FAQ is associated with the FAQ on how to connect TimeTrade with Google Calendar. One of the required steps to make the Google Calendar connection with TimeTrade is to have the pop up blocker disabled.

The setting to enable/disable the popup blocker is in different locations for different browsers and versions of browsers.

The examples listed below show the location of the setting for Firefox, Safari, Chrome and Internet Explorer 7 and 8. If you do not see your browser settings in any of the examples shown below, access the "help" menu of your browser for assistance in locating the settings for the popup blocker.

The procedures outlined below are for disabling the popup blocker; i.e., the result will be that pop-ups are allowed. Again, this is required when establishing the initial connection with Google Calendar and can be changed after the connection has been successfully established.

Firefox:

If you have Firefox set to display the menu bar:

  • Select the Tools listing from the menu bar and select the Options selection:

If your Firefox menu listing is available from a drop down rather than a menu bar, locate the Options selection as shown below:

  • Select the drop down menu:

  • Click the first selection for options
  • Click the second selection for options

Once you have accessed the Options selection either via the menu bar or Firefox drop down, the following screen appears:

  • Select the Content tab
  • If it is checked, uncheck the box next to Block pop-up windows to allow pop ups in your browser.

  • Click the OK button

Safari:

In Safari, click the settings icon in the upper right corner of the browser:

The following screen appears:

  • If there is a check mark to the left of the listing "Block Pop-Up Windows", you will need to deselect the check mark.

Chrome:

  • Click the wrench icon in the upper right portion of the window as shown below:
  • Select the Options listing from the pull down.

  •  Select the listing for Under the Hood.

  • Click the button Content settings.

  • From the Content Settings window, look for the listing for Pop-ups and enable the radio button to Allow all sites to show pop-ups as shown below:

Internet Explorer:

     Internet Explorer 9:

  • Click the settings icon in the upper right corner of the browser window

  • After clicking the settings icon, select the button for Internet Options
  • In the window that appears, select the tab labeled Privacy
  • Make certain the box next to Turn on Pop-up Blocker is unchecked. If it contains a check mark, click the box to deselect the check mark.
  • Click the button labeled apply in lower right portion of the window.
  • The final step is to click the OK button.

     Internet Explorer 8:

  • Click on Tools in the Internet Explorer menu bar
  • From the pull down, select the listing for Pop-up Blocker
  • Click the listing for Turn Off Pop-up Blocker

     Internet Explorer 7:

  • Click on the Tools menu located at the far right side of the browser window
  • Select the listing for Pop-up Blocker
  • Click the listing for Turn Off Pop-up Blocker
